St. Maria Goretti
Prayers from the Feast
Father, source of
innocence and lover of chastity, you gave St. Maria Goretti the
privilege of offering her life in witness to Christ. As you gave her
the crown of martyrdom, let her prayers keep us faithful to your
teaching. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who
lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and
ever. Amen.
Lord God, you gave St.
Maria Goretti the crown of eternal joy because she gave her life
rather than renounce the virginity she had promised in witness to
Christ.
With the courage this Eucharist brings, help us to rise out of the
bondage of our earthly desires and to attain the glory of your
kingdom. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are plesed to
announce that the
Ajo Chapter of the Maria Goretti Society
will be formed soon in the Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church of Ajo. The Society has been approved by
Bishop Moreno and allows membership to all who are able to pray
between the ages of 11 to college age.
Father Rego
is the spiritual director of our group which will be headed up locally
by Mrs. Beverly Mikus.
The mission of the
Saint Maria Goretti Society is to further and enhance the Catholic
faith in all who are able to pray. The society's purpose is embodied
in the following statement, adopted by the Saint Maria Goretti
Society: |

The Saint Maria Goretti Society is dedicated to the advancement of
the Catholic faith, especially the Church's teaching concerning
chastity. Following our role model, St. Maria Goretti, we will
strive to be models to society, thus raising its moral standards. We
hope to achieve this through the members' mutual support in our
commitment to the Catholic Church, its teachings, and above all
through the grace of God.

activities such as horseback riding, attendance at musical functions,
and other wholesome and youthful activities. Projects may include
rosary making, construction of Pro-Life and various theme banners,
visiting and assisting homebound persons and other activities within
the community. From time to time, members will meet for activities and
outings with the counterpart group in Tucson. Society members will
learn to live in the service of God while helping others.
All those interested in
joining this group are asked to call Mrs. Beverly Mikus at
520/387-7038 or Elizabeth Campion at the Parish Office at
520/387-7049. We ask parents, grandparents, friends and relatives of
our youth to encourage their participation in this wonderful and
exciting new organization. |
